This refreshing tea tree and mint homemade foot scrub is much needed. My little feet are a hot mess. I've been wearing nothing but flip flops or going barefoot which has been great, but they've gotten pretty beat up in the meantime. I'm not much of a pedicure/manicure kind of girl, so I came up with this simple foot scrub to get my feet all soft and clean.
Originally, I used regular sea salt. I decided to update this recipe with black lava salt just because truth be told, I love the way it looks. It's a very simple scrub, the black lava salt makes it a bit more interesting and intriguing to me. Or is that just me?
Besides it's seductive looks, black lava salt has activated charcoal which is a detoxifier. And that's certainly something I need during the summer when I'm barefoot 95% percent of the time. And it's also the very reason I created the Hawaiian Black Lava Salt Foot Soak. Double detoxifying whammy if you do this scrub and then the soak!
Ingredients:
Carrier oil (I used Organic Apricot Oil, something that doesn't have a strong scent would be best)
Black lava salt or regular sea salt
Tea tree essential oil
Peppermint essential oil
Directions:
Fill the jar with salt about 3/4 full.
Add the carrier oil so that it completely covers the salt.
Add 6 drops of each essential oil.
Note: I always sterilize my beauty containers first by placing them in boiling water for about five minutes and then letting them air dry and cool down before using them.
These essential oils are pretty strong, so if you have sensitive skin, try just a couple drops at first and see how it goes. It can also feel pretty tingly which in my opinion feels great on my feet.
